How to brew your coffee?

  • French Press
  • Preheat the press
    with hot water
  • Single serving: 18g
    coffee to 290g water
  • Add water all at
    once; plunge coffee
    at 0, 2 & 4 minutes
  • Allow to rest for
    2 min for particles to
    settle
  • Skim oils & grounds
    from top with spoon

 

  • Syphon
  • Single serving: 22g
    coffee to 275g water
  • Soak filter in water
    for 5 min prior
  • Add water to bottom
    component, add
    coffee once water
    has heated, after
    brew remove from
    heat & stir 10 times
  • Allow coffee to cool
    a few minutes

 

  • Chemex
  • Wet filter before
    brewing
  • Single serving:
    24g coffee to
    385g water
  • Pour in concentric
    circles around the
    ground; not on the
    filter
  • Swirl before serving

 

  • V60
  • Wet filter before
    brewing
  • Single serving:
    13g coffee to
    120g water
  • Pour in concentric
    circles around the
    ground; not on the
    filter
  • Swirl before serving

 

  • Vietnamese Phin
  • Single serving:
    2 tablespoons coffee to
    88g water
  • Grind size: Fine, like sand.
  • aim for these metrics —
    1st drip by 2 minutes,
    and last drip by 5 minutes.
    Staying within this timeframe
    will produce a solid brew.

 

  • AeroPress
  • Single serving:
    21g coffee to
    150g water
  • A 7:1 ratio produces
    a coffee similar to
    espresso
  • Stir grounds at each
    stage to fully
    saturate

  • Toddy
  • Single batch:
    12oz (340g) coffee
    to 7c (1.65 L) water
  • A 5:1 ratio produces
    a coffee concentrate
  • Add 1c water, then
    6oz coffee, then 3c
    water slowly in
    circular motion
    Wait 5 min, add final
    6oz
    coffee & 3c water
    Do not stir at end

 

  • Ibrik / Cezve
  • Single serving:
    22g coffee to
    1c (250ml) water
  • Combine coffee and
    water while water is
    cold
  • Do not fill to the top
    or pot will boil over
  • Use low heat, do not
    allow coffee to boil

  • Mokkapot
  • 2 cups mokkapot:
    12g coffee to
    90ml water
  • Use medium heat on
    the stove
  • Leave lid open while
    brewing
  • Remove when you
    hear a hissing,
    bubbling sound
